Love and Holy Spirit

Happy Pentecost everyone, a day to remember Acts 2: 1 – 13. The day the Holy Spirit is sent from Heaven by our Lord Almighty to us.

New Zealand, Dunedin 2018

Am much happy to discuss about the Pentecost because we do not only receive the Holy Spirit but the happenings shows how much closer God’s love for us is. Love is the core of our relationship with God. Matthew 22: 36-40 also says this, we must Love God and our neighbor.

If we do not have love, we are far from God’s saving presence. When Jesus chooses his disciples, he prayed overnight, this is mentioned in Luke 6:12-16. During his ministry, the disciples have little faith, they see but do not believe, they raise some questions which the Lord do not approve of as well. This shows lack of knowledge, wisdom, authority and self control. For example, Simon Peter does loses control when he took a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear.

In Galatians 5:22-23, the fruits of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The gifts of the Holy Spirit is recorded in 1 Corinthians 12. The fruits and gifts are two different areas. The fruits are our qualities and characters, how we act. The gifts are given to us from God, each of us has a will and purpose, God gave us gift/s for us to do his work.

When Jesus went up to Heaven, he sent forth the Holy Spirit. This is mentioned in Acts 1:6-11.

The disciples spent time in prayer after Jesus left to prepare for the coming of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost). When the Holy Spirit came down upon them, the disciples not only receive the Holy Spirit but also fruits of the Holy Spirit. They completely turned away from their doubting, their questions, their attitudes and they gain all the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Also God give each one of them a gift/s.

Yes, we do not expect people to believe in them because they do not go to universities or are temple prophets and went through training since childhood. The disciples are fishermen, some related to Jesus. Others are tradesman of some kind but not religious etc. Matthew is only known for taking tax from people. Simon is a Zealot, stubborn as he is. However, Jesus has taught them about God during his three years ministry.

The disciples came to Love God with all their mind, body and strength. This gives them the power from God for their destiny and will. They have Love for God, from all the suffering and injustice they go through, all is love.

The core of all our relationship is love. When we have love in our hearts for God and other people, no one is against us. When we have Love, we are open to more blessings and God will prepare a room for us in heaven.
