Peace

Why is Peace important? What type of Peace comes from God that works through us to settle problems, make us happy, creates peace between conflicting parties, peace among men and peace in families.

We will discuss some verses from the new testament about the type of peace Jesus brought with him.

Peace on Earth can in found in Luke 2:14, the angels sing praises to God saying, Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased.

This verse was given when Jesus was born, it is very interesting to find that peace is mentioned already in the beginning when Jesus came into the world. However, if you read further down the books, bringing peace creates further conflict among men because men do not practice the type of peace which Jesus brings. Jesus himself also mentioned in Matthew 10:34, “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.”

There are different kinds of peace mentioned in the bible by Jesus. Jesus rebuked the wind saying,”Peace, be still” in Mark 4:39. Here he asks nature for peace.

In Mark as well, Jesus healed a girl and says, “go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”

Another, he said, “have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another”.

In John 14:27, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. ”

Matthew 10: 12-13, “As you enter the house, greet it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.”

With the above verses peace can be inserted not only in conflicts but also nature, sickness, yourselves, visiting people, peace in faith, spiritual peace, and spiritual love.

On earth you can resolve a conflict between two parties to have peace, at last! However, peace does not really exist if in one’s heart of peace is not truly given by God.

Peace should not only be practiced among men but also among other things. For example, a company who does deforestation causes soil erosion, water pollution etc which does not bring peace to those who live close by. It may give peace when there is exchange of money or solutions of getting water for the community but the environment itself does not have peace. The peace that comes from God is peace in nature and the future. The kind of peace that happens now and continues happening for the future without any touch of selfishness, pride, money, conflict etc

The peace that comes from sickness is peace of healing, you heal yourself through peace given by God. You feel healthy, refreshed, and without fault. Some of us may feel downhearted, or rejected by loved ones, these does not bring us peace, therefore, we only find such peace in God to heal ourselves from our surroundings.

When the Lord sent out his apostles they bring with them peace, we ourselves must accept the peace given to us by others. If your peace does not accept others, it is not peace at all. How can you accept peace from others when you have your own troubled heart. Peace are connected between each heart and this is the type of peace you should share.

To have faith that our goal will be a success recurs in our mind the peace which comforts our inner selves. I have faith in this, I have faith in that, it shows the peace we have in what we want or planned for.

The spiritual peace we have from God is so special we ourselves feel we are in a different state, some do during meditation or when helping other people. It is that peace that comforts our mind, telling us that everything has worked out through God and handled by God. The peace which brings us total comfort.

Spiritual love, the peace in love which shows out through our work, our effort, our family, our output, our relationship with other people. It is pure whiter than snow. Whenever someone has offended you, you just have love and peace for them.
